Understanding what interests our readers is important to us at Nonwovens Industry and nitesh_non.rodpub.com. Thankfully updates and improvements to Google Analytics are allowing us to see more clearly what stories are the most popular and more often than not what we see is surprising. Last year, the most read news item on our website was a new product introduction—long-last bladder leakage pads from Kimberly-Clark’s Poise brand. This is not suprising considering the growing importance of the adult incontinence market and K-C’s dominance in the categories. Actually, new product introduction dominated the list of top stories last year including a report of a compostable diaper from Drylock Technologies, the new Sequel tampon design, a tampon designed for transgender men and a compostable sheet mask. It is our belief that new product launches are so widely read because they represent the high level of innovation in the nonwovens industry which continues to shine in the consumer products markeat. Also popular were reports about Berry Global’s potential sale, an article about a K-C Huggies-related lawsuit and EDANA’s response to the U.K. wipes ban—all also topics that have the potential to widely impact the market. In the past few years, we have worked hard to expand our scope in news coverage. We are looking at markets adjacent or on the fringe of nonwovens to provide a better snapshot of the industry. We have also presented more news related to emerging markets. This month, our African-based columnist Raymond Chimhandamba has provided us with a profile (see page 48) of Hayat Kimya, the Turkish consumer goods maker with a strong growth plan for Africa. Hayat’s focus on African markets like Nigeria is growing as other diaper makers, like Procter & Gamble, announce plans to restructure their operations in the area. As we continue to expand into new topic areas, we will continue to monitor what stories are most interesting. It is our hope that our readers will benefit from our coverage. As always, we appreciate your comments. Karen McIntyre Editor [email protected]
